Dr. L. Thomas Powell, Chiropractic Physician
and Acupuncturist Dr. L. Thomas Powell is an honors graduate of the National College of Chiropractic (now
National University of Health Sciences, www.nuhs.edu). A lifelong resident of Northwest Indiana, Dr. Powell briefly worked in Chicago before returning to the Region to work with
his mentor and personal chiropractor. Soon the opportunity arose to take over the practice, and Dr. Powell jumped at the chance.
Dr. Powell describes his experience at Integrated Chiropractic Rehab in his own words, “I have experienced this clinic
at every level. As a teenager, I was a patient for sports related injuries. While an undergraduate at Purdue, I spent summers
as a Therapy Assistant. Upon graduating from Chiropractic school , I returned as an associate doctor and also managed the
administration of daily office affairs. When my mentor retired, I purchased the practice and became its Director. Having experienced
the office from the perspective of patient, employee, and owner, I have been determined to treat each patient with respect
and as a whole person, not a diagnosis.”
In addition to his Chiropractic training, Dr. Powell furthered his
education by studying Acupuncture through a Fellowship series presented by the International Academy of Medical Acupuncture,
www.iama.edu. Upon completion of his Fellowship, Dr. Powell sought advanced training by completing and submitting 30 case studies describing
his treatment of patients utilizing Acupuncture. These cases included patients treated for diabetes, high blood pressure,
migraines, infertility and menopausal symptoms in addition to musculoskeletal pain syndromes. The IAMA conferred the advanced
status of Diplomate in Acupuncture to Dr. Powell, and stated they were very impressed with the comprehensive quality of the
studies.
