the headings below: Chiropractic Chiropractic is a branch of the healing arts focused on the function of the spine and neuromuscular system and how they
relate to health. The unique aspect of Chiropractic care is spinal manipulation, or “adjustment,” which involves
moving the bones of the spine and pelvis in such a way as to restore normal function to the joints. Doctors of Chiropractic
are taught many forms of spinal manipulation. In our office, we use the following: - Diversified
- Cox Flexion/Distraction
- Activator
- Nimmo
- Pelvic Blocking
A Doctor of Chiropractic (D.C.) evaluates the spine using standard
physical examination methods, X-rays, and advanced testing (such as MRI) when necessary. Once it is determined that a patient
may benefit from Chiropractic care, a course of treatment is planned. In addition to spinal manipulation, adjunctive therapies
such as massage, electric muscle stimulation, ultrasound, and therapeutic exercises may be recommended.

Acupuncture Acupuncture is a branch Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) that focuses on utilizing the body’s natural energies
to restore health. Early Chinese physicians described energy pathways (meridians) that course just below the surface of the
skin. These meridians circulate “Qi,” (pronounced ‘chee’)or vital life energy. Injury, exposure to
the elements, and stress can cause blockages of this flow, resulting in pain, swelling, and other symptoms. By stimulating
key acupuncture points, these blockages can be relieved and health restored. Point stimulation is typically accomplished with
a very thin needle, but laser and electric stimulation can also be used. The needles are very thin and are inserted so quickly
that it is most often entirely painless. There may be a momentary pinch, similar to getting a mosquito bite.
The
World Health Organization has identified numerous conditions that benefit from Acupuncture treatments. Acupuncture is an effective
form of acute and chronic pain control for back, neck, and joint problems. It is also beneficial for headaches of most types,
sciatica, asthma, allergies, skin conditions, mild anxiety and depression, obesity, and many other health challenges. Pre-menstrual
and menopausal symptoms also respond favorably to Acupuncture. Additionally, Acupuncture can be used to enhance fertility
treatments in both men and women. Most conditions respond favorably within 8 to 16 treatments. Depending on the nature of
the condition, results may come quickly or take some time. A typical visit takes between 20 and 40 minutes. More information
about acupuncture is available at www.iama.edu.
Nutrition Most people today try to help their conditions by using nutritional supplements and/or herbal preparations. Often, these
people begin taking supplements based on advertisements or advice from unqualified persons. In our office, we do a comprehensive
assessment to identify body systems that would most benefit from nutritional support. This eliminates the guesswork and leads
to faster results.
At Integrated Chiropractic Rehab, we recommend Standard ProcessTM
and MediHerbTM whole food supplements and herbal preparations. Standard ProcessTM whole food supplements focus on potency, which is far more important in providing nutritional
support than quantity. The more potent a supplement is, the greater the therapeutic effect. You can learn more about whole
food supplements by visiting the Standard ProcessTM website at www.standardprocess.com.
