{"id":20,"date":"2014-08-15T16:26:00","date_gmt":"2014-08-15T21:26:00","guid":{"rendered":""},"modified":"2019-04-30T11:41:49","modified_gmt":"2019-04-30T16:41:49","slug":"why-i-love-this-mouse","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.integratedchiro.net\/blog\/why-i-love-this-mouse\/","title":{"rendered":"Why I Love This Mouse&#8230;"},"content":{"rendered":"<div style=\"clear: both; text-align: center;\"><a style=\"clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.integratedchiro.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/IMG_2889.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.integratedchiro.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/IMG_2889.jpg\" width=\"320\" height=\"265\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/div>\n<p class=\"lead\">I heard an interesting statistic on the radio the other day. \u00a0It seems that within a few years, 47% of the jobs in this country will involve the use of a computer on some level. \u00a0From the perspective of the office, I&#8217;ve noted a gradual shift in the percentages of patients who suffer from lower back pain (LBP) and those who suffer neck and arm pain (NAP). \u00a0A slow but steady decline in the number of LBP complaints has been accompanied by a similar increase in the number of NAP patients.<\/p>\n<p>During the history or initial discussion of a NAP problem, the subject of computer use typically comes up. \u00a0I don&#8217;t have an exact number, but the<br \/>\npercentage of people with a NAP condition who list computer use as an irritant to their pain is very, very high.<\/p>\n<p>While computer use itself may not be as strenuous as doing construction, it does lend itself to chronic static strain and repetitive use disorders, such as neck pain and carpal tunnel syndrome, respectively. \u00a0Both of these can be alleviated, or even eliminated, with proper workstation setup.<\/p>\n<div style=\"clear: both; text-align: center;\"><a style=\"margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.integratedchiro.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/ergonomics.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.integratedchiro.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/ergonomics.jpg\" width=\"320\" height=\"222\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/div>\n<div style=\"clear: both; text-align: center;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"clear: both; text-align: left;\">This diagram is a good general setup for your workstation. \u00a0We have copies at the office, if you would like one. \u00a0Now, back to the mouse&#8230;<\/div>\n<div style=\"clear: both; text-align: left;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"clear: both; text-align: left;\">Moving the mouse around typically involves using your dominant hand and arm to get the cursor to the spot you would like it to be. \u00a0Why this needs to involve your entire arm, shoulder, and neck is beyond me.
